The different types of pool covers

Isothermal and winter covers

To protect and keep your pool looking good, a cover is essential, but there are different types depending on your needs.

How many types of covers are there? And what are the differences between them?
Danny, your pool expert, answers.

Every season has its pool cover: for the summer months there's the isothermal cover, while for the cold season an appropriate winter cover is used.

Isothermal Covers

The isothermal cover is mainly used at night to prevent temperature fluctuations, but it can also be used to protect the pool during the day from leaves and insects, thus keeping the filtration system cleaner and more efficient.
There are two main types of isothermal covers: Mousse and Multiball.

The Mousse cover is more expensive and performs better energetically, and I recommend it for large pools. Along with it, a roller reel will also be necessary to conveniently roll up and store the cover after use.

The Multiball cover, on the other hand, is cheaper and lighter; it is suitable for small pools (even above-ground) and often does not require a roller reel, thus further reducing costs.

Winter Covers

For the cold season, however, a specific cover is used: the winter / 4-season cover.

This cover is designed to completely protect the pool water from external atmospheric agents, thus extending the life of the pool and the water during months or periods of non-use.

The winter cover is more challenging to install but it is a definitive cover. Furthermore, with a drain pump on its surface, any type of maintenance can be avoided, and you can forget about the pool even for long periods, such as 5 or 6 months!

There are mainly two types of winter covers: those with elastic straps and stakes, and those with windproof tubular weights.

The first are suitable where the lawn is very close to the pool paving, but due to the very taut elastic straps, they could become dangerous for children or animals.

The second, on the other hand, are the simplest and most economical covers ever. Their windproof, freestanding tubular weights are very convenient; with this technology, in fact, the pool is covered in a few minutes, which is why it can also be used during weeks when you go on holiday.

Our winter covers are made by us, have a 5-year warranty, and are custom-made in a maximum of 48 hours!
