Pool robot maintenance: keeping your cleaning robot in top shape
A robotic pool cleaner is essential for keeping your pool water clear and sparkling, which is why it needs to always be in optimal condition.

But what is the routine maintenance for proper robot operation? And if malfunctions arise, how can they be resolved quickly?

Danny, your pool expert, answers.

To extend the life cycle of your pool robot and ensure it cleans and sanitizes the water perfectly, a few simple precautions are necessary:

  1. Connect the robot's power cable directly to the power outlet; do not use extension cords, as this would increase current dispersion and not provide sufficient power to the robot;
  2. Make sure the transformer is placed 3 meters away from the pool edge and in a shaded spot (to prevent overheating);
  3. Unwind the minimum cable length required for the robot to operate; any excess cable should be coiled out of the water, to avoid movement problems for the robot;
  4. To minimize wear and tear on plastic parts, remove the robot from the water at the end of each cleaning cycle;
  5. Keep the filter always clean;
  6. Regularly check the temperature and chlorine and pH levels. The robot performs best when the temperature is between 12°-32° C and the values are: chlorine between 0.8-1.2 and pH between 7.2-7.6;
  7. Untangle any knots in the robot's cable weekly;
  8. Reposition the robot in the shade at the end of each cycle (on the caddy or, if not available, simply upside down, to facilitate the drainage of residual liquids).

What if your robot is already experiencing problems? How can you resolve and prevent them in the future?

When the cleaner is not moving

Make sure the transformer is plugged in and turned on and that the cable is fully inserted into the transformer side;
Make sure the electrical outlet works and has not tripped the circuit breaker in the fuse box;
Turn off the transformer, wait 30 seconds, then turn it back on;
Unplug the transformer and ensure nothing is stuck in the impeller or other parts of the robot.
If the problem persists, there may be faults with the motor, cable, or transformer; in this case, contact our assistance center.

When the cleaner moves but does not clean

Clean the filter (or filter cartridges).
If the cleaner starts to move and then stops after a few minutes, check the impeller and drive system for any lodged debris.

When the cleaner only cleans one part of the pool

Make sure the cable is long enough to allow the cleaner to reach the entire pool;
Clean the filter/filter cartridges;
Check that the brushes are suitable for the pool lining and that they are not blocked or worn;
Check the water values (incorrect values or the presence of algae in the pool could compromise the proper functioning of the robot);
Make sure the handle is in a diagonal position so that the robot can unbalance and turn;
Properly close the pool's bottom drains to avoid a suction effect that would block the robot;
If the robot does not rotate 90° or rotates beyond 90°, try moving the floats on the handle (or remove one or both).

When the cleaner spins in circles

Remove excess cable from the pool (too much cable would make it difficult for the robot to move);
Clean the filter, there might be a build-up of debris;
Remove leaves, stones, or any other foreign objects from the robot's parts;
Replace your robot's tracks if they are worn.

When the cleaner floats instead of staying at the bottom of the pool

Remove air from the cleaner;
Immerse the cleaner in water and squeeze the combined brush ("Wonder Brush") to ensure it is fully absorbent.

When the cleaner does not climb walls

Clean the filter (or filter cartridges);
Check the water values (unbalanced values allow algae growth and make walls slippery);
Ensure the brushes are suitable for the type of pool lining and are not worn;
Check that the water temperature is not too low and is therefore between 12°C and 32°C.

When the cable is tangled

Straighten the cable and leave it in the sun for at least a day.

To prevent the problem from recurring, take the following precautions:

Avoid introducing excess cable into the pool;
Check that the robot's brushes and wheels are suitable for the type of pool lining;
If the robot has two motors, check that both are working correctly (a malfunction of one of them would lead to circular movements of the robot and tangling of the cable).
