Acqua Piscina Marrone

Why the pool water is brown

The pool has finally been filled. After the initial treatment, you can start enjoying it with your family...

But, after the first chemical treatment, the water suddenly turned brown! Why? And what to do?
Danny, your pool expert, answers.

Brown water is a fairly common phenomenon that occurs when the pool has been filled with well water or poor quality water.

It occurs when the water used to fill the pool is rich in iron or manganese, which, when oxidized by chlorine treatment, cloud the water and color it with shades ranging from murky green to brown.

What can be done to make the water clear again?

The only solution, apart from completely emptying the pool, is to use the metal sequestering product Sequat, a specific chemical product to eliminate, prevent, and reduce the accumulation of ferrous and mineral substances that make the water yellowish.

The product Sequat, a sequestering agent for iron in pools, is based on salts of an organophosphonic derivative that prevents iron and/or heavy metal precipitation, prevents water cloudiness, and avoids calcium and magnesium scale on the walls and bottom of the pool.

It prevents the pool water from becoming cloudy. It also makes it easier for the robotic cleaner to vacuum the iron particles present in the pool.

A massive initial treatment is recommended after checking pH values, followed by weekly repetitions, according to the dosages indicated on the package.
