When to use pH Minus or pH Plus in your pool
The pH in a swimming pool, as in any aqueous solution, is absolutely fundamental. You cannot even imagine how important these two letters are: they are the core of active disinfection.
It is important to know that ORP, which is the oxidation state in the pool and thus its disinfection, are closely linked, because every type of sanitizing agent in a pool can only work to its full potential if the water is fully oxygenated and has a pH of about 7.6.
As a pool expert, I warn you: it is important not to confuse acidic water with what is usually called basic water. The latter, in fact, has a high pH and often exceeds 7.8. In the former case, acidic water usually has a rather low pH, below 7.2.
Why does pH rise and fall?
Acidity in a pool is subject to variations due to a series of circumstances. The main reason for these imbalances is certainly the most common and "pleasant" one: swimming, with all the "contaminations" from sunscreens and various tanning lotions. Another aspect that can raise the pH of our pool is rain.
In these cases, it is absolutely essential to act on purity with the right product: pH Minus. Another thing not to underestimate are the inputs that our water gives us from time to time. We just need to be good at grasping them.
Two daily actions we can take to treat our pool well and take care of it in the best way are to touch and smell the water. If the water gives off a chlorine smell, it most likely means that the pH is high and, therefore, there could be irritation and red eyes. If, on the other hand, the water is oily and slippery, then the pH is too low, unusual, and consequently, the water could be saturated and poorly oxygenated.
The advice I feel I can give you is to use only certified products like those for sale on ZavattiShop.com. So, to raise or lower the acidity and/or alkalinity of your pool water, all you need to do is get pH Plus (suitable for shock treatments) or pH Minus (suitable for traditional dosages).
Finally, remember that when adding acidic products to the pool for pH regulation, it is necessary to opt for recirculation mode for at least 2 hours for your sand filtration system. This way, you avoid the acid dissolving iron or agglomerated limescale in our system.

Alternatively, to chemical products, for more accurate and complete cleaning, it would be appropriate to also equip yourself with one of our Dolphin Maytronics Pool Robots, which, with absolutely contained energy consumption, will oxygenate your pool water more thoroughly than chemical agents and filtration systems.
In addition to being Maytronics resellers and service centers, we are also a retail point for the exclusive, high-tech pool analyzer! I'm talking about the indispensable Blue Connect, which, via an app, allows you to enjoy your pool in total relaxation and monitor it anywhere on your smartphone. Our "Conny Blue" can notify you of the following values: temperature, pH, ORP, oxygenation/conductivity.
