How to check pool water values

Water values are very important even in spring, when the pool is not fully used because temperatures are not particularly favourable, or simply because there is no heat pump to warm the water.

But why are they so important? What are the key values to consider? And how can you keep them constantly under control?
Danny, your pool expert, answers.

Correct pool values are essential to keep the water beautiful and healthy and to ensure all chemical products work efficiently. The most important value to monitor is the pH acidity, which must remain between 7.2 and 7.6 to maintain the effectiveness of active chlorine disinfection in the pool.

If the pH is too high or too low, all the chlorine used (whether granular or in tablets) quickly tends to go into suspension and is therefore literally wasted. It is therefore essential not to forget the weekly analysis of values with a test kit.

And if you are already using your pool?

In this case, you might notice that the pH is not correct by feeling the water particularly oily or greasy, or by experiencing red eyes.

In any case, we recommend always having pH PLUS and pH MINUS available, so you can intervene promptly to correct it. Please note, if your pool has a cartridge filter system, remember to use liquid chemicals: Liquid pH Plus / Liquid pH Minus

Once the pH is stabilized, it should be checked with a test kit every week, as it doesn't take much to alter the values, such as acid rain or extensive bathing with gels or tanning lotions.

In any case, Danny is always available to answer your questions and clarify any doubts!
